Vision
The latest ideas and callings that God is placing on my heart...pray into it with me!
I have spent the last two years immersed in PNG culture, learning how to effectively run a clinic in a remote setting. I've learned the medical side of things, from how to treat certain illnesses, how to assess and recognize conditions that are common in the South Pacific but not North America, how to organize and inventory materials effectively, how to manage and track a budget, how to lead effectively and to champion others.
It was incredible, but I was also left extremely burnt out and isolated. When I think of my longevity in missions, this is not sustainable. I need to be able to retreat and have a break, to be supported by others, and to multiply my knowledge, not just for the sake of relieving myself of some responsibility, but to grow the ministry and reach more and more isolated peoples.
So as I pray into this, what do I dream of it looking like?
- Having more than one person who can do my job! Right now I'm the only person in the ministry who knows how, and it is a LOT of responsibility. I want to be able to multiply my skills to take some of the pressure off
- I can engage in training people in Kona, and strengthening the relationship between the base and the Liberty. To be able to have consistency and people who know what things are like on both ends, it strengthens communications and our effectiveness, it lowers the level of burnout, and multiplies what we are able to do as a medical department globally
- The Liberty could be a training vessel: bringing YWAMers with a health professional background to PNG to learn how to run a clinic. What logistical things do they need to think about in order to make a remote medical mission successful and safe?
- Strengthen the medical department: Right now the medical department on base is solely associated with the Liberty, because that is currently the only location we provide medical services, but what if it wasn't??
- If there are multiple people trained to run medical clinics, the medical department can begin to engage with YWAM Ships Kona's new Flotilla vision to bring small boats to every isolated island in the pacific. Those small boats could include medical teams!
- What if we didn't stop at the South Pacific? What if, as a medical department, we were able to train and equip volunteers to go into closed nations to reach medical needs and secretly spread the love of Jesus?? What if we were able to multiply to multiple continents??
